Our Internal Medicine physicians are trained to prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses and diseases that affect adults, age 18 and older. UNLV Health features three different internal medicine locations. This location specializes in Pulmonology (respiratory system), and Cardiology (heart).

Jacqueline Choa, MD
Internal Medicine, Pulmonology

Born and raised in the Philippines, Jacqueline Choa, MD, is an assistant professor in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Department of Internal Medicine. After receiving her medical degree from the Cebu Institute of Medicine, Dr. Choa completed her internal medicine residency at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine. After her residency, she went to Tulane University to pursue a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care, following it up with an additional year of training in interventional pulmonology at the University of Utah.

Angelica E. Honsberg, MD
Internal Medicine, Pulmonology

Dr. Angelica Honsberg, an assistant professor in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Department of Internal Medicine, graduated from the Sidney Kimmel Medical College in Philadelphia. 

She completed her internal medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University and a pulmonary fellowship at the University of Arizona. 

Dr. Honsberg is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Justin Jeffries, MD
Internal Medicine, Pulmonology

Justin Jeffries, MD, was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. He attended Morehouse College on an academic scholarship where he studied biology. He earned his medical doctorate from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, and subsequently completed a postdoctoral program in medical education at the same institution. Dr. Jeffries completed his internal medicine residency and served as chief resident to the program at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV where, post-residency, he also completed a pulmonary and critical care fellowship. Mutsumi John Kioka, MD
Internal Medicine, Pulmonology

Dr. Mutsumi Kioka, an assistant professor in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Department of Internal Medicine, is board certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

A graduate of the Loma Linda University School of Medicine, he completed a residency at the University of Southern California and a fellowship through Wayne State University.

Kush D. Modi, MD

Dr. Kush Modi, an assistant professor in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Department of Internal Medicine, received his medical degree Gujarat University in Ahmedabad, India.

He completed his Masters in Public Health at Drexel University. He completed residency in internal medicine at Drexel University and a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at State University of New York at Buffalo.

Dr. Modi is associate fellowship program director for pulmonary and critical care at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV.

Dr. Arthur Oliver Romero, an assistant professor in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Department of Internal Medicine, graduated from the University of Philippines College of Medicine. 

He specializes in pulmonary critical care medicine and internal medicine.

Dr. Romero is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in pulmonary disease, critical care medicine and internal medicine.

Jill Sharma MD

Jill Sharma, MD, who specializes in the management of pulmonary diseases and the care of critically ill patients, is an assistant professor in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Department of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Sharma earned her medical degree from the Mercer University School of Medicine in Georgia. At the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine, she completed an internal medicine residency and a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care.
