Dr. Robert Wang, a professor, and chair of otolaryngology at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV has more than 30 years of experience in dealing with conditions of the ear, nose, and throat and related structures of the head and neck.
With expertise in head and neck cancer treatment, Dr. Wang runs the sole head and neck tumor board in Las Vegas, partnering with Dr. Oluwafunmilola Okuyemi who performs the reconstruction. Dr. Wang performs robotic-assisted as well as laser surgery for cancers.
A high volume thyroid surgeon for thyroid cancers and goiters including those extending into the chest, Dr Wang — who has research interests in the larynx and voice production — has since 1991 used botulism toxin injections to treat laryngology patients with spasmodic dysphonia, where the muscles that generate a person’s voice goes into periods of spasm.
In collaboration with the UNLV mechanical engineering undergraduate and graduate programs, Dr. Wang and the otolaryngology residency program have been performing research in modeling and treating obstructive sleep apnea.
Dr. Wang received his medical degree from State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine, completed his residency program at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and finished a fellowship in neck and head surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Institute in Houston.
