Lisa Contreras, RDN, LD, CDCES, is a registered dietitian nutritionist and certified diabetes care and education specialist.
With more than 20 years of combined experience as a dietitian, health educator, and former teacher, she enjoys helping people learn and thrive. She has worked in clinical, private practice, and community settings.
As UNLV Health’s dietitian, she treats a variety of health conditions with medical nutrition therapy. In her diabetes educator role, she helps people with diabetes build skills to improve their confidence in managing their condition and reducing the risk of complications.
Ms. Contreras graduated with honors from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and obtained a degree in nutrition sciences. She was awarded a scholarship from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to complete her dietetic internship in Las Vegas. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
Ms. Contreras lives in Las Vegas with her husband and two feisty pups, Max and Reilly. She loves nature, hiking, and heading to any Southern California beach whenever she finds a chance. She aspires to publish cookbooks someday to show people how easy, delicious, and transformative healthy eating can be.
