Ashley Pistorio, MD, MS
Hand Surgery
Dr. Pistorio is originally from Maryland. She worked in biomedical research for ten years prior to medical school. She completed her undergraduate degree at Thomas Edison State College in animal science and her master’s degree in biotechnology at Johns Hopkins University. She earned her medical degree from the Pennsylvania State University and completed her residency training in general surgery at University Medical Center/ University of Nevada followed by her residency in plastic surgery at University of Kansas. She then completed a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at WellSpan. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, and traveling.
Dr. Pistorio has experience in general plastic, burn, reconstructive, microvascular, and aesthetic surgery as well as the full breadth of hand surgery including nerve compression syndromes, trauma, arthritis, tumors, and congenital defects. In addition to her surgical practice, she serves on national committees for the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and as a peer reviewer for a number of scientific and medical journals.
Prior to medical school, Dr. Pistorio worked in medical research for ten years first at the U.S. Army Institute of Chemical Defense and then at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She has substantial experience in basic science (benchtop) and clinical research and has published in multiple professional journals and presented at national meetings. One of her side interests is drawing and painting and in addition to creating works for charity, she also has published artwork in several scientific and medical publications.
Dr. Pistorio has been a physician since 2010 and has completed training in general surgery, plastic surgery, and hand surgery.
Dr. Pistorio lives in Las Vegas with her husband and dogs. She enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with family.
