Annette Mayes, MD

Annette Mayes, MD, who completed her undergraduate work in human biology at Stanford University prior to receiving her medical degree from the University of California, San Diego, is an assistant professor in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Department of Gynecologic Surgery & Obstetrics.
Her postgraduate OB-GYN residency training was completed at the University of Texas, Houston.
The youngest of six children and the first in her family to graduate from college, Dr. Mayes has been in Las Vegas since 1994, with most of that time spent in private practice.
She has been involved in community outreach programs, including an annual breast cancer and mammogram awareness fair and has given talks to local women’s groups on topics ranging from prenatal care to menopause.
Dr. Mayes, who has made it a point to mentor young women who are interested in higher education and medicine, served on the Susan B. Komen grant committee, where she helped to disburse funds to local breast cancer organizations.
Dr. Mayes also writes a monthly article in Black Image Magazine, which serves the Las Vegas Valley.
